As part of the 2014 Paranormal Blog Tour, I’d like to share my review of Shiftless by Aimee Easterling. (Click the cover to link to Amazon).
Brief, spoiler-free synopsis: Terra is a werewolf, born into a pack where men are the ones in charge. She leaves her oppressive life and strikes out on her own, shunning her werewolf heritage, and ending up unable to shift to wolf form. Ten years later, Terra’s father comes back into her life, and it’s either learn to shift, or return to the life she worked so hard to escape.
Review: I’m just going to come out and say I loved this book. I read a lot in this genre, and so many of the plot lines and character dynamics have been so overdone. Aimee Easterling has ignored all of the fads, and she’s written a unique, complex story all her own. Easterling’s character details give a clear sense of personality, giving us characters we can clearly envision and understand. I loved watching Terra come into her own, fighting against how she’d been raised, but unable to ignore what she is. On the romance side of things, Easterling focuses on ACTUAL romance, not simple flirtatious, tingly feelings leading to sex, but actual romance.
With all of these aspects combined, Shiftless was a refreshing, engaging read, and I can’t wait to see what else Aimee Easterling has to offer.
